- Our Philosophy -
At Cataumet Preschool and Childcare we believe that each child is a unique and special person. Each has their own personality, learning style and family background. All children must have a good-self image as a foundation to grow and learn. This comes through development of a healthy ego, accepting themselves as a worthwhile person, being needed, wanted, liked, LOVED—and at all times, in all things—being accepted as one's self.

In working to develop a healthy ego, We at Cataumet Preschool & Child Care have based part of our philosophy on Madge Gerber's Principles Of Respect. In her principles of respect, she talks about knowing a group of children, respect who they are as individuals, building a trust and providing consistency. At Cataumet Preschool & Child Care, we encourage children to build relationships with their primary caregivers and continue to build on these relations by a system of "classroom looping". "Classroom looping" is carried out by a child moving throughout the school with their primary caregiver, limiting the amount of transitions and relationships the child needs to form with caregivers. For example, a child starting our program will begin with a teacher in our preschool program and continue with that same teacher into our prekindergarten program. The teacher moves with the child continuing to build on their current relationship.

- Our Goals -

- Learning and Education -
Young children, especially those between the ages of birth through age five, learn best through an environment that encourages a hands-on, play orientated approach to education. Every aspect of development: language, science, mathematics, social skills, music, creative arts, fine/gross motor skills is touched on every day. We at Cataumet Preschool & Child Care believe that children grow and learn according to their own unique timetable. The teachers are aware that your child is attempting to understand a big and somtimes overwhelming world.
All children enrolled at cataumet Preschool & child Care are guaranteed a stimulating environment of activities designed to encourageemotional, intellectual, social and physical development.
